The Painted House
Behind the small entrance door in the heart of the medieval Italian town of Todi lies the astonishing work of Irish artist and critic Brian O’Doherty. The acrylic painted walls recreate a symbolic, magical language:
The colours and geometric perspective shapes on the walls frame the ancient Celtic alphabet Ogham, extinct for over 1200 years, which translates the 20 letters of the Roman alphabet into horizontal and vertical lines. “Letters”, of this ancient language, dominate the rooms on the lower floors, all repeating the phrase “One, Here, Now”.
