SSA Annual Exhibition
International call for entries at Royal Scottish Academy exhibition, New competitions, Art jobs & opportunities
Hi hi! As an Edinburgh native I’m a wee bit biased but the Royal Scottish Academy is a cracking place to show your art. Founded in 1826 by a group of eleven artists it’s grown to become a vital hub for contemporary art & architecture in the heart of Edinburgh.
Over 30,000 people visited the RSA for the last Society of Scottish Artists Annual Exhibition. Back after a Covid hiatus the 123rd exhibition (1st–23rd Nov) is open for entry and you don’t even have to be Scottish to enter. Prizes will be announced shortly but they usually have a good variety of awards (main prize last time was £3,000).
Worth Joining?
The SSA is the oldest and biggest artist-led organisation in Scotland with more than 1100 members from all over the world. SSA Membership gets you 3 free artwork entries to the exhibition (£15 per entry for non-members). Annual membership is Student: £10, Graduate: £20, Artist: £40.
Membership also gives you free submission to shows, a profile page on the SSA website, residency programmes, promotion of your work, workshops, resources, art shop discounts, social events, artists’ talks and exhibition previews. On the cusp of joining and entering myself. Hope to see you there. (entry deadline 31st July)
RSA Awards
The £5,000 RSA Morton Award for lens based artists and the £2,000 RSA William Littlejohn Award for artists working in water based media both close Sunday.
