Sketch For Survival
Hey folks, this week’s edition begins with an endangered red panda and ends with a happy dog. The panda above is a previous entry for Sketch For Survival an international art initiative from Explorer’s Against Extinction. 100 works will be selected for an online auction & exhibitions in London & Edinburgh. Over $100,000 was raised for conservation projects in 2021. Submit your animal or wildlife art (A4 or A3 size) in one of two categories: ‘Endangered Wildlife’ and ‘At-risk Wild Spaces’. See also the Junior Competition for under 16s. (closes 30th June)

My sister’s been enjoying ‘Inside a Creative Notebook,’ a Domestika course by the storyteller, artist & illustrator Karishma Chugani. Born in Casablanca to a family of Sindhi origin her work is inspired by family ties in India, Ghana, England, Spain & the US. I’ve long been enamoured by the intricate work of Edinburgh based artist David Cass. His painted seascapes on antique tins and matchboxes are a quietly powerful witness to rising water levels. He’s currently showing as part of the group show ‘Contemporary’ at The Scottish Gallery with work available to buy online (2–25 Feb)
