Portrait Artist of the Year & Waverton Art Prize
Two art prizes of £10,000 this week, New kids competitions, Art Residencies and 152 black cats...
It’s that time of year where you ask yourself if what your art really needs is over a million viewers watching you make it while a clock ticks and Stephen Mangan interrupts you in the most amiable of ways. If it’s a yes then Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year Series 11 is open for entries with filming starting next spring.
Entry is free and open to UK based artists age 16 and over. You have about 9 weeks from now to create or submit a self portrait (produced within the last five years) and up to two further works in any media excluding photography, video, digital, sculpture.
A £10,000 prize commission awaits the winner plus £500 of art materials from Cass Art. To celebrate 10 years of the series Cass Art have interviewed each of the series winners including the most recent winner Morag Caister, also in this short video. Catch up on the final weeks of the current series on Sky Arts & Now. (closes 2nd Feb)

Lewis - more quotes on the creative process in The Ruffian.
