New Art Competitions
£10,000 Emerging Artist Prize Fund, £100k public art commissions, Riga Forbes & Caroline Walker Exhibitions
Open For Entry
After a quiet few months for art competitions due to you-know-what it’s a welcome relief to see some new commissions and familiar prizes open this week.
The Ashurst Emerging Artist Prize just opened for entry with a £10,000 prize fund. Scientists are still studying what an emerging artist actually is, no age restrictions here so anyone’s game. Enter by 29th November for detailed feedback. 2020 winners here.
Birmingham hosts seven public art commissions from murals to sculptures totalling £100,000 with Gallery 37 North (closes 2nd Nov).
The Art of Building is a free to enter photography competition celebrating the built environment, first prize of £1,500 (closes 15th Nov)
The 14th annual Dream Car Art Contest from Toyota is a cool prize for kids aged 8-15, UK winners get iPads and a chance to win $5-10,000 for their schools.
Old Frame New Picture is a photography competition promoting positive images of older people in Greater Manchester. £250 first prize (closes 13th Nov)
A meaningful call for entries from huunuu for their Art & Death Virtual Exhibition, win £50 or hamper of goodies (closes 7th Nov).
Sadly there are no BP Portrait Awards in 2021 or 2022 while the The National Portrait Gallery closes for redevelopment. That £74,000 prize fund is a big loss but let’s hope it comes back in 2023 with a far greener sponsor.
