ArtPrize Call For Entries
Grand Rapids, Michigan has been the home of ArtPrize since 2009 (watch the 10 year retrospective video) which is back for the first time in 3 years with $450,000 of grants and prizes. Kind of like the Edinburgh Fringe for contemporary art – for 18 days art is exhibited throughout the city in parks and museums, galleries and empty storefronts, bars and bridges. This year’s ArtPrize will run from 16th Sep - 3rd Oct 2021.
Open to artists (over 18) from anywhere in the world, enter before 26th April for $25 (50% off) entries close 10th June. Here’s where it gets a bit unconventional. Once registered you need to find a venue to exhibit your work using the ‘Connections tool’ in your account. The Connections period will be open from 3 May - 23 Jun, 2021. Still interested? Download the Artist Pack pdf for more info than I can fit here.

Scaling Images
Fraser Gray, a talented mural artist and fellow Dundonian living in Edinburgh, shares tips on scaling up images (from 3 minutes in) for the V&A’s New Skills series. Met Fraser on a friend’s mural project and he’s a really nice guy so it’s no surprise 20% of sale price of the prints below go to local charities.
